in this series, i soaked fabric originally from shower curtains in cyanotype solution and allowed the fabric to be unevenly exposed by the sun. the blue textures are reminiscent of the ocean and sky while the shower curtain represents the domestic spaces we inhabit. these textures are then paired with imagery symbolizing windows and ocean waves. these pieces hang freely from the wall, allowing them to create their own movement as surrounding air forces the fabric to wave back and forth, mimicking the rocking motion of the ocean’s waves.

REMINDER is based on the concepts of healing, self-care, and psychology. our thoughts have an effect on our behaviors and actions, therefore negative thoughts can be overwhelming & self-debilitating. to remind oneself that "you are not your thoughts" and that your thoughts do not define you is an affirmation meant to increase self-esteem and confidence. flowers represent beauty, growth, and a tie to the natural world. they remind us that we are living, human, and should be kind to ourselves. my hope is that this print reminds the viewer to think about themselves in a more positive, loving way.
